Every once in a while, I like to share a little glimpse into my Bible reading..so here is my reading this morning. Acts 1.  Just want to highlight some scriptures that stood out to me…

Today I started reading the book of Acts. Starting with Chapter 1.  There have been days when I didn’t feel confident but very fearful.  But I thank God through his Word that He is able to encourage me with the power and strength contained in the Bible.

• vs 1-11…Luke who is the author of Acts, reported to Theophilus about Jesus’ last days on earth.  Luke pretty much says that Jesus gave many proofs that he was alive, spoke about the kingdon of God, and the real good part: “YOU WILL RECEIVE POWER WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES ON YOU” (Thats what I want, I don’t believe I have reached the full potential that God has in stored for me, and I believe God wants all of us that have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to have this power!)
• vs 8…If I were in the shoes of the apostle and I was given that task, I would have tested it right away.  Kind of like these super heroes like Superman, X-Men, and etc.  I would have been praying and laying hands on people right away so I could cast out demons, heal the sick, make the blind see.  I think that would have been an awesome experience.  (I know its possible now, and I’ve seen other people do it right before my eyes…and I believe God will give me the opportunity also.)
• vs 12-26…The disciples responded to all that they had seen and heard with PRAYER!! Wow!! Thats what I need to do more often.  As soon as they hear that they are going to receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on them, instead of going to brag about it or test it on people, they go AND PRAY!! Wow!! (Thats like a WAKE UP call to me, considering how I responded earlier about going to lay hands on people right away.)  They are reading scripture!! (I know I can do a better job at praying, I don’t pray enough, but I’m building that back up.)

Here are some very important key factors that I learned from today’s devotional.  My faith in Jesus Christ can be encuraged by the words of others.  That the same way the apostles had POWER when the Holy Spirit came on them, so can I, but I need to pray WAAAAYYYYY more often.  And the last very important key, and I witnessed this with my own eyes this past Wednesday Night in our Youth group, that when I pray with other believers, especially when I consider my part in God’s mission for the church (vs 14), I am affected!! Our service is affected, bondages are set free, and it gives me the opportunity to be Jesus’ witness in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth (vs 8).  Pretty much I can live for Jesus in my home, job, school, on my blog, ON MYSPACE (that hit someone, lol), neighborhood, city, country, overseas, and etc.

God Bless you this morning, I hope this was an encouragement to somebody!  Thank God that he has given us all a task to carry out.  Let God know about the fears and joys you feel as his servant.  God will give you all that you need….
