Haiti Update #2

  • The trip was great.  Words can’t really describe what I saw and felt,  it was crazy, sad, excited, happy, and just weird.  You would have to go yourself to really expreience it and I know you have so you know how it is.
  • Hundreds of hundreds of kids dying, starvations, malnutrition, and all sorts of diseases I don’t even know how to spell.
  • We had 4 clinics, and all of them got worse as the day went on.  People are dying out in those remote places that no one visits.  No Hospital.  It’s crazy.  The little medication and love we give them will only last but for so long.
  • We gave just about every kid and mother, 30 days worth of vitamens, gave almost all kids worm medicine, and alot of elderly B12 shots.  It sucks to live out there.
  • We gave away lots of soccer balls, pretty much every village we visited got a soccer ball.  It’s like GOLD.  Their faces light up, knowing they are getting a soccer ball that they get to keep.
  • We brought back with us, about 5 people.  This one man, who got burned on his leg, to the point he was bleeding and it looked like he would die, cause he was losing so much blood.  So they washed his wound, and wrapped it up.  The next day he came back and he had some sort of insect lay eggs in his wounds!! A whole bunch.  It gives me goose bumps just passing that image through my head.  That was the worst thing I had ever experienced in my life.  It smelled, but the nurse said, they probably saved his foot, cause if they didn’t take care of it, he would have died.  This other kid, he had scabbies all over his bodies.  It’s these insects that suck blood out of your system, and lay eggs, well he had them all over his body.  So the nurses washed him up, and put a cream on him and told his mom to wash him again the next day.  They mom said she didn’t want him anymore cause he was an embarrasment.  The next day we say him and h e looked WAAAAYYYY better!! Words can’t describe it.  But everyone from around the village that saw him, couldn’t believe their eyes.  They were like thats the boy with all the marks, and he is clearing up!! Only God.
  • Alot of mothers covers their newborn babies head from when they are born and never wash their heads, and it leaves dry skin, which looks really ugly.  They say the Voodoo doctor told them to do it.  So when we would wash a baby, we would tell the mothers, we are washing them under God’s medicine, and they need to stop all that Voodoo mess if they want to see their babies healthier.
  • We climbed up this mountain for about fifty minutes to tell a group of people that Jesus loves them.  It’s an amazing story this village.  One of our guys that went on this trial with us, 3 years ago told us this story.  He got up there and told the people that “Jesus wants me to tell you that He loves you.  Alot of you have been asking, God do you really love me, and I’m here to tell you that he does.” So as he is getting ready to leave, the pastor pulls him to the side, and says thank you for that.  The pastor had been questioning if God really loved them, and if he did, to show him.  And he did.  So this time we got up there and ministered to over 300 hundred kids, through a story, song, and just fun!!  By the way it rained the whole way up and down.  So we were soaking wet!! But worth it!!
  • All and all, it was good.  Im exhausted, tired, and ready to come home!! TO MY WIFE!!!
