It is WORK!! Hard Work!! After we get the check from them I will know if it was worth it!! In total we worked 25 hours in 2 days with Saturday being 17 long hours!!  We racked in a total of $9,318 dollars in food and drink sales.  Plus 75 dollars tip.  If it all works out, we should be getting 10% of the 9,318 and when you add it all up, we should have made $1000 for our the youth ministry!! I pray we did, cause we worked hard, and much love to my wife, Eddy, Yannick, DJ, Marthe, and Sophia.  They worked their butt’s off!!  Well I’m still recovering from that weekend.  Racing is LOUD!!!!! And intense and fun!!

Early Morning devotional – J0shua 7-8 Success can lead to complacency.  We feel confident, in control, optimistic – then suddenly the bottom drops out of our lives.  Israel had tasted success.  They had entered the Promise Land, they had won an important battle, and God was obviously with them.  Conquering the city of Ai would be a piece of cake, a NO BRAINER!  But their confidence collapsed when they attacked the city and were routed.  Is there a time when you failed at something.  How did you feel and why?I know for me, I have failed in many things, I felt lonely, down, disappointed.  But I thank God, his grace is brand new everyday, and I can always get back up and know my God welcomes me with open arms.  The story in Joshua remind me of this movie ”Eight Below“.  In the movie there is this scene were the dogs are left by themselves for days without food, and they are starting to get hungry.  So as they are walking on the ice, they see these birds, but they have to be smart to catch them, so the leader of the dogs, sends a few of the dogs, to go around the back, and the other dogs will chase the birds towards them.  When the birds start running, they will run right into the other dogs, and they catch them.  It’s hard to explain, but I hope you get the gist.   Well back to getting some rest!

This weekend our youth ministry has been given the opportunity to raise some money at the Homestead Speedway by running a concession stand.  Selling food and drinks! Tonight was a very slow night, in total we sold food for $326! Word is, that we will sell more tomorrow!! So ill blog tomorrow.

  • But here is the story…Any food that is not sold, is thrown away by the people who run the stands.  We had 13 burgers and 48 hotdogs left over.  We can’t sell them tomorrow, so instead of throwing the food out, we asked our supervisor if we could take them and hand them out to the homeless.  So that is what we did.  Late at night, driving around downtown with my wife and another couple (EJ & YBJ) and handing out warm food.  At first it was hard to find them, but eventually they were everywhere and we would pull the car over and hand them the warm food.  Covered under a dirty blanket, or shivering in a corner, or leaning against a wall, we found them.  I remember one lady when she got her food, it looked like she was praising God afterwards, that was awesome to see.  I thank God, for people such as Eddy and his wife, and my wife  and Marthe and Sophia for wanting to do that.  But I believe it all boils down from our senior pastor and his wife.  They have a heart for the lost and poor, and they expresses that through their vision.  And even through their own action.   How would you rate yourself in helping the poor or less fortunate? The Bible says “And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward.” – Matthew 10:42I’m not sure exactly what the verse is referring to, but thats the verse that came to mind when I wrote this blog.  Go be a difference maker.  Im not writing this blog to tote my horn or bring glory to me or the people that came with me, but just an encouragement  to you the reader, to go out there and be a difference maker.

Ever thought you had just finish preaching your best sermon, or maybe you thought you put together a real good looking flyer or maybe an event you thought that ran smooth. Then you find out that there were some flaws or maybe in REALity you stinked!! Maybe it’s an outfit you bought and thought it was HOTT, but REALity is that those shoes didn’t match that outfit and you really don’t look good. Well today I got a REALity check. AND I LOVED IT! Cause you know what it does for me, it shows me where I can improve, it shows me that there are some flaws that need to be fixed. One of my biggest REALity check peoples is my wife, she lets me know, if those “Jesus” sandals don’t match an outfit, she lets me know if I bombed a sermon, even before I preached it. And everyone of us, needs a REALity check when it comes to a sermon, an event, a flyer, and even your drobe (what you wear). So if you don’t have some key people around you that can give you a REALity check, you need to find some. Keeping it real. One thing Lecrae mentioned at his recent concert was this “REAL knows REAL”. Thanks for all the people that keep it REAL with me!
When was the last time you got a REALity check? How did you respond?

Had to change things up last night, our piano player had to play for the adults in the “Big Church Service”.  I guess this is where “EXPERIMENTING” comes in handy, and boy did our experiment look good. At least I thought it did.  Instead of opening up with praise songs, we just went into a time of Praise Reports and just sharing what God has been doing in their life.  And kid after kid, just started sharing.  It was good.  To me, that was the highlight, when kids know that only God brought them through, and nothing else, or it was God that saved their parents in that accident. GLORY to GOD!!!

Here are some other highlights:

  • Attendance was low again. 100 people. After that big concert we had last week, I would have thought more visitors would have shown up. BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD!!
  • Great worship time, started off with no piano (took it back Old School), but the worship team still did their thing!!
  • Pastor K shared on “Elevate Your Game”.  Pretty much it’s time you take your spiritual life to another level.  Just making it by, is not enough!!  To bring home the message he showed two clips from Drumline and Remember the Titans, which connected well.  The kids really related to that, and it showed when the altar call was given.
  • We went a little past 9, but when the Spirit of God is moving, there is no time limit (At least thats what I think!)
  • One of our leaders, took the kids on our bus(7 of them) to MacDonalds, cause they were hungry.  Times are rough for some family, they had nothing to eat all day and the only thing in their fridge was expired milk and stale cereal. **(We are working on this one, we just found out about it yesterday, but this is where true ministry happens. So we plan on hooking up with this family to make sure they are taken care of.)
  • Got home after 11, I was tired! But it was a great service, and happy that I could be there.

No matter, the outcome, I believe God is always in control.  I like this saying, “everything happens for a reason.”  It rained really hard on Saturday, causing the field to be wet and soggy.  Because of that, we were not able to have service out in the tent, and had to adjust on the move and have it back in the sanctuary.  Now try imaging trying to fit over 1000 people into a 500 seat sanctuary!! Thats where team work, volunteers, leadership, and vision comes in!  Here is a recap of the day.

  •  At 8:30 AM, cleaning up the sanctuary to get ready for the people.  People were vacuuming, picking up trash in the hall way.  Small stuff but still very important.
  • Had to add additional chairs, anywhere we could find chairs we were bringing them into the sanctuary.  From the classrooms, choir room, and event the wet chairs outside.  I don’t know what the attendance was on Sunday, but I know it was well over what we usually have.
  • Had to close the gates at one point, because there just wasn’t anymore seating available.  It sucks, when people leave because service is full (believing  God for a cathedral in a couple of years, lol.)
  • Great worship time, there was no time restriction, so we were all into worship.  It sounded good, but the truth is, God was doing his thing in people lives from the get go!!
  • Choir sounded great!! “Do you know, do you know, do you know, JESUS!!” Great song, they had to sing it twice, cause the crowd was into it!!
  • All the ushers, volunteers, parking attendants ROCKED!! To be able to make things run smooth as Sunday did, was all them.  Madd props to H and S C.
  • And our Pastor brought the WORD!!!  Shared a great message on PHENOMENAL Man!! Talking about Jesus and saying he wasn’t an ordinary man, but a PHENOMENAL Man.  I believe the crowd left encouraged to walk their faith out, because they are not serving, your everyday joe, not serving an ordinary man, but the KING of Kings, and Lord of Lords, JESUS!!!
  • Now the fun part, service is over and putting everything back to normal.  This is where you see what people are made of.  Sometimes in our youth service people just leave when its all done, but on this day, everyone chipped in to make it happen.  Thats what its all about!!
  • All in all, we had numerous people come to the altar and give their lives to Christ!! Thats what it’s about!! I thank God for the opportunity he gave us on this day!!
  • How was your Easter?

Im referring to all that happened last night!! It went very well!! Lecrae did his thing, the crowd loved him.  All the leaders, pastors, volunteers did their thing last night, MADD props to them.  We had people all over Florida come out.  From as far as Jacksonville!!!  And Chicago, but I wonder if they were already here on vacation or spring break!!  But either how, there was over 1000 people. I estimate 1000.  I wish I could put up pictures, but soon we will have a video up!!
